It may be extremely useful for MS to start a SQL Server Service Pack
newsgroup. I've bounced around a number of MS SQL Server newsgroups for some
very useful info.
I noticed that there is one for MICROSOFT.PUBLIC.VSNET.SERVICEPACKS.

You know you are in trouble when
the learning curve turns into a death spiralHi Frank,
There is already a newsgroup out there: microsoft.public.sqlserver.setup -
this newsgroup is the most appropriate for posting any issues related to
installation of Service Packs. Did you get bounced around posting to this
newsgroup?

newsgroup sqlserver.msde , but no sqlserver.sqlexpress?
Am I looking in the wrong newsgroups, there is msde newsgroup, but I cannot
find a sqlexpress . Should I post questions about sqlexpress in the msde
group or where?

One has to wonder : what is the distinction between forums and newsgroups?
does it depend on the season? Are forums more fashionable than newsgroup?

Hi Jan,
I expect MS to open some new groups for the new features of SQL Server
2005 in the weeks to come; until they do, just pick the group that suits
the question best.
SQLExpress questions are fine here. They can also be posted in .server
or .programming.

Hugo already answered... Microsoft is quiet deprecating NG in favour of it's
own forum, but I do think they will add new SQL Server 2005 ng as well...
I've heard something about SQLExpress ng name, as someone suggested not to
name it "Express" in order to avoid user's confusion about "Express answers"
ROTFL
just a side note... I'd post SQLExpress questions on non MSDE ngs as it seem
Microsoft employees do not attend this one very much, so Setup problems and
the like are not very much probably answered..

Newsgroup for SQL Server 2005 ?
I am aware that there is a discussion group for SQL Server 2005. When the
product is launched on 7/11/2005, should we post SQL Server 2005 question to
this newsgroup OR there will be another newsgroup for SQL Server 2005 ?
ThanksHi
Existing newsgroups will remain, as Microsoft does not create version
specific groups.
Expect a few more newsgroups to pop up over the next few days for the newer
features for SQL Server 2005.
Keep posting in the normal news groups, just state which version of the
product you are using.

This is by far the largest, highest traffic Reporting Services
newsgroup (and has the most responses and participation); however, 3
others have the option to upload files (and I'm sure there are others
as well):
http://groups.google.com/group/SQL-SERVER-REPORTING-SERVICES
http://groups.google.com/group/RS2005
http://groups.google.com/group/ReportingServices
Hope this helps.
