No full-text supported languages found in SQL Server Express with Advanced Services

I've downloaded SQL Server Express with Advanced Services from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/ and installed all components. When I try to create a full-text catalog, I get the following message:

No full-text supported languages found.

select * from sys.fulltext_languages
returns no lines.

How

can neutral, English or maybe Hungarian word breakers be installed?

Thanks

Hello Peter

Are you sure you installed Full Text Support option when installing SQL Express?

Thanks,

|||

I have just installed SQL 2005 Express with Advanced Services to test this out and it returns me all the languages fine :

Just make sure you have install Full Text Search option.

|||It was surely installed because msftesql.exe was running.

I reinstalled Sql Server Express with the following changes and now full-text search works:
- I use default instance instead of named instance
- IIS was enabled during installation
- The installation folder was selected so that to be different from the folder of previous installations.

Maybe the Sql Server 2005 wasn't removed correctly before installing Express and some components had conflict with each other. I don't know what the real reason was of the problem. The important thing is that now it works.|||

Hi,

I Have the same problem, i execute the T-sql statement select * from sys.fulltext_languages and i get zero rows, i uninstalled and installed again and nothing happend i still have zero when executing that statement, i try another computer and there evrything went fine!.. i do have Microsoft Net framework, and everything but i still can get this to work! help please!!!

|||Hello everybody, I am facing the same issue. It's really frustrating.
I have removed and reinstalled SQL Express 3 times, changed the installation path, but no hope.
I can't set it as the default instance since I'm using MSDE as default instance.

Are you sure you actually installed FTS; this feature is not installed by default, you must specifically select it from the feature list. Open up the SQL Configuration Manager and look at the Services node to verify that SQL Server FullText Search is listed and running.

If it's not listed, you didn't install it and you'll need to go into maintenance mode and select it from the feature list to get it installed.

Hi,

I am having a similar problem. How do I go to maintenance mode? I also can't find anything called "SQL Configuration Manager".

Hello Mike and thanks for the reply.
Of course I have installed FTS and it's listed in the configuration manager.
This problem is driving me crazy, it has taken 3 days from the tight timeframe of my project and I didn't find any solution.
I have removed MSDE, removed everything related to MsSql from the registry, deleted the installation directory, used "Windows install clean up" and reinstalled SQL Express with FTS as default instance may be more than 5 times and no hope.
Is there any way to install these damn languages manually? in the registry or whatever.
May be the problem is that SQL Express (without Advanced services) was installed previously and some trace is kept in the registry.
I don't know!
Any idea is really appreciated.

No Email

Hello.
I have created a domain account, granted the account Administrator access on
the report server machine, have changed the two windows services to run as
that account, and have created an Exchange mailbox for the domain account.
I created a simple report that has no data source. I created a shared
calendar that runs every 1 minute. I subscribed to the report on that
schedule, no report.
The report is not being emailed.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
MikeAlso, SQL server instance is on a different machine.
I don't think that the report is even running. Does reporting services use
the SQL agent?

No disk in drive a:

Good morning
We ask for help please for the following:
From a Windows XP SP2 via Terminal Services (mstsc.exe) we were accessing a
Windows Server 2003 SP1/SQL 2000 SP4.
After remote instruction to be restarted the SQL Server Service, this
service aparentely stops OK, but does not start again
with an error on the master Database.
Note: in Task Manager the SQL Process was still active, not possible to
eliminate
After some attempts to restart the service, we note that other DBs were also
alocated. Allways working via Terminal.
When finally we went to the phisical Server, to restart the machine, we note
the dialog message: There is no disk in drive a:
Note: this dialog does not appear on the terminal side
When this msg was accepted the situation was reestablished.
Is this a known error?
How to solve?
How to be sure that the dialog msg is really mapped to the Terminal
environment?
Thanks

I agree with Ray this issue is related to default error mode handling. Some
settings in terminal session blocks the error dialog which causes the
process of SQL Server to hang. You may want to check if you log on to
Windows with same domain user account and if the issue occurs with other
user account.
Also, please change the registry key ErrorMode Value = 2 to see if there is
any side effect. Usually this error message "There is no disk in drive a:"
does not cause real issue and can be ignored. You may still see the
information logged in event log though the dialog does not prompt.

No designer. Ouch!

We are about to propose to a client that they use Reporting Services instead
of such things like crystal Reports, but it is my understanding that they
would also have to buy VS.NET inorder to design new reports.
Is this correct or are Mirosoft going to be providing a standalone report
designer with Reporting Services, one that doesn't reply on VS?
Thanks in advanceToday you have to buy VS, any version. The cheapest way to do this is VB.Net
($100). As far as cost you are most likely still way ahead of alternatives.
With version 2 (hopefully late summer) it will ship with a version of VS
specifically for RS. I.e. RS designer is still an add-on to VS (they get to
leverage all the nice features of VS) but you won't have to purchase a
version of VS to use the designer.

On our development machines, we have VS .NET 2003 loaded and use it to
create the reports solution/project and all the RDLs. We then need to copy
all the RDLs, RDSs, etc. to each of our customers' production computer. The
catch is that the reports may need to be modified on each customer's
computer.
So, we thought we would install VB .NET ($100) on each customer computer and
copy all the report files. The question is: Since we created the reports
solution, project, and RDLs in VS .NET 2003, will we be able to open the
solution, make changes to the RDLs, and deploy to the local Report Server
using the VB .NET that's loaded on the customer computer?
Hope that make sense.

the customers' computers. Since RDL is XML, you can use any application
capable of editing XML to modify the reports. To deploy, you can write a
simple application which uses the RS SOAP API. There is some code in the
samples which does this.

No Data Selected message back to .Net

Hi All
We have a .net application calling some reporting services reports and we
pass the parameters to the reports from the application.
When no data is selected, is there any way to pass a paramter or something
back to the .net application so that we can display a 'No data selected'
message within the .net application.
Thanks
PeteI don't know if you can hook into this at the report level, but the data
regions (table, subreport, matrix, etc.) have a NoRows property that can
display a message if the source data set is empty.

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

Hi,

I have successfully created a project (using VS.Net 2003 and SQL Server Analysis Services 2000) which is dynamically retrieving dimensions, levels, and members, and i generating and executing a query as per user needs and requirements. However when I tried to deploy the project on another machine, even though the apps is running fine, and the query getting generated, when its trying to show the data in the report-display page using ADOMD.Net, the following error was shown.

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

May I mention here, that the computer where I tried deploying, has SQL Server 2000 as well as SQL Server 2005. I tried reinstalling MSXML, but the computer already has a higher version of MSXML.

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Best Wishes.

Check Programs/SQL Server 2005/ Configuration tools/SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.

In "Surface Area Configuration for services and connection", you click on the service and remote connections.

See that you have local and remote connections activated.

No "Existing" word... How?

I am rendering an Association Rules on Report Services. How do I make to filter the word "Existing", just like example below? I want to show attribute name only.

Pneu ML Road = Existing, Sport-100 = Existing -> Road Tubo de Pneu = Existing

to

Pneu ML Road, Sport-100 -> Road Tubo de Pneu

By the way I am using this code:

SELECT NODE_DESCRIPTION,ROUND(NODE_PROBABILITY,2)AS Probabilidade,ROUND(MSOLAP_NODE_SCORE,2)AS Importancia
from [Association].CONTENT
where NODE_TYPE=8

NODE_DESCRIPTION is a string field generated by the algorithm. It contains predicates having the form "Attribute = value" which, in the case of nested table keys, translate to "Road Tubo = Existing".

The "Existing" keyword cannot be removed from the NODE_DESCRIPTION. However, it is coming from the server's string resources. That means, if you install a localized version of the server, you will get a localized version of Existing. Furthermore, the server will attempt to "localize" the Existing string to the thread locales of the client application, as long as the respective resources are available on the server side.

Now, to get rid completely of the Existing keyword, there are a few ways:

- write a server side stored procedure which: traverses the rules in the model content, extracts the node unique names for the itemsets as well as the attribute states, then generates a string which contains the attribute name but not the value (pretty much what the stored procedures used by the built-in viewer do).

Then, invoke the stored procedure with a CALL statement.

OR:

- write a very simple C# class library, containing a single function, Replace, which takes 3 strings as arguments

string Replace(string source, string oldValue, string newValue)

{

return source.Replace(oldValue, newValue);

}

Then, deploy the assembly on the server and change your query like below:

SELECT MyAssembly.Replace(NODE_DESCRIPTION, '= Existing', ''),ROUND(NODE_PROBABILITY,2)AS Probabilidade,ROUND(MSOLAP_NODE_SCORE,2)AS Importancia
from [Association].CONTENT
where NODE_TYPE=8

While not as reliable as the first solution, this is much easier to implement and will generally work correctly, as long as the only attributes in your model are the nested table keys .

|||

You did inspired me, but I found a better solution:

Just click right button on the table, click in "Expression" and change the code Fields!Regra.Value to =Replace(Fields!Regra.Value," = Existing","")

Thank you very much!

Next Version of Reporting Services

Hi,
Does anyone know when Microsoft is releasing next version of Reporting
Service with all the issues resolved
PonnurangamSorry, I have seen no date yet for SP2. But if you really mean "next
version", the answer is the first half of 2005; it's in SQL Server 2005.

Next version availability

Hello
I'd like to know if the next version of Reporting Services, scheduled for
release along with SQL Server 2005, will be available for previous versions
of SQL Server, specifically, SQL Server 2000?This is my understanding of how it will work. You have to have a license for
SQL Server 2005 in order to run RS 2005. But, the databases used by RS can
reside on a SQL Server 2000 database. If that is not the case I will be
screaming as loud as anyone else.

Along with your answer, I took the time and installed RS from SS2005 (latest
Beta) using SS2000 as the database, and it works - at least up to the point
of finishing the installation and initializing. I still have to wait for the
Beta 2 of VS2005 to fully test it.

Newspaper Columns

Does anyone know how to create Newspaper Columns in Reporting Services? I am
trying to create a company address and phone number directory.
Thanks for any help you can offer. In the Body section of the report, open your properties window. There is a
property under layout called columns. Set the number of columns here.
Then, if you want 2 3" columns w/ 1/2" between them, you would set your
report width to 6.5 and your body width to 3".

newline in format string

Can I insert a newline character within a reporting services format string?
I guess \n doesn't work since it is interpreted as a VisualBasic format
string...? Is there an alternative?

1. If I use vbNewline in the FORMAT STRING, i.e. = "M/dd/yy" & vbNewline &
"h:mm tt", then the vbNewline gets rendered (using the HTML renderer, at
least) out to a linefeed in the HTML textfile which does NOT translate into
a linefeed in the browser.
2. On the other hand, if I use vbNewline in the VALUE itself, i.e. =Format(Fields!Date.Value, "M/dd/yy") & vbNewline & Format(Fields!Date.Value,
"h:mm tt"), then the vbNewline is rendered out as <br/>
This seems to be an inconsistency in the HTML renderer ... ?

Newbie: what kind of "cube" is this?

1. In sql 2005 Analysis services how can I tell what kind of "cube" I'm viewing -- ROLAP, HOLAP, or MOLAP?

2. During cube creation where do I specify the type of "cube" I want to create

TIA,

Barkingdog

The cube wizard will not ask you for the storage settings that you want to use. After you have run the wizard and created the cube, go to the "Partitions" tab of the cube editor. You will then see information for your partitions. You can click on a partition and then click on the "Storage Settings..." link to specify MOLAP, HOLAP or ROLAP.

HTH,

- Steve

|||Cube and dimensions will initially be MOLAP when creating cubes and databases with Cube or Dimension wizards.

Newbie: please help with NS 2000 runtime error

We have a new big project coming, which will use Notification Services.

So, I bought a book: "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Notification Services" by Shyam Pather and did all steps including installing NS, setting up the environment, and creating the first sample NS application (Chapter03). Every single step was successful, no errors. I am pretty sure I didn't miss anything.

All went well until I copied a sampla data file into the EventsWatchDirectory.

At this point, the file name almost immediately changes to EventData.xml.20060908-160948.370.err (digits are different at every attempt, but please note the extension).

I open this file using Notepad, and it is the exact copy of the original .xml file:

My environment is as follows:

XP Pro SP2; SQL Server 2000 Dev SP4; SQL Server NS 2.0 SP1; SQLXML3.0 SP3.

Could someone kindly point me to the right direction as to what's wrong, please?

To my great regret, I found (by trial and error all over the past weekend) what was conflicting with the NS:

it's the .NET Framework 2.0.

As soon as I uninstalled it, the sample application started working as expected (that is, the file's extension in the Notifications directory changes to ".done").

...which means I won't be able to use VS 2005 and SQL Server 2005 on the same dev machine with NS 2000.

Although I don't doubt what you observed, you should be able to run a SQLNS instance on a machine that has v2.0 of the .NET framework installed.

Try this post and see if it helps...

Joe, thank you very much!

I followed your advice, and got it to work.

Newbie: Object name 'ProductSubCategory' is not valid.

Hi all,
I have just installed Reporting Services in a W2003 server (without VS.Net).
and SQL Server 2000.
I have run the Report Administrator, and after inserting my the windows
admin user and its password, looks like it works.
Then I load the example file Company Sales.rdl which is in the
Samples\Reports folder. looks like it loads perfectly.
But when I click on it in order to see the file, gives me that error:
Error while processing report(rsProcessingAborted). Query execution error
for Sales dataset (rsErrorExecutingCommand).
The object name 'ProductSubCategory' is not valid.
What am I doing wrong?
Any help/hint or whatever will be wellcome.
Thanks in advance,

Have you created the Datasource yet? You need to create a data source for
the sample reports to run. The Books Online explains how to and what
settings to use.
Kaisa|||Thank you for your replay.
I was just to post that I have found that the datasource wasn´t defined.
What leads me to the next question:
Is is possible to set a default datasource for all reports?
Thanks,
