No ISSQLROLE column in sysusers?
installation that uses the Turkish character set.
SELECT * FROM sysusers WHERE NAME = 'BOB' AND ISSQLROLE = 0
I'm confused; why would the column be missing/renamed? Reinstalling SQL Ser
ver to use Latin character set works as always. Any words will be very much
appreciated. (I don't have much experience with character sets outside of t
he one that I use here in California.)
Thanks in advance,
James Hunter RossHi James,
Try the column name in lower case. Turkish has both dotted and non-dotted I'
s, and sometimes it is difficult to tell them apart if you're not used to th
e alphabet. In this case it seems to me that the uppercase I in ISSQLROLE in
interpreted by SQL Server as a non-dotted I, where it should be a dotted i.

James|||Hi James,
Indeed in the Turkish collation "I" is not upper case "i", it is upper case
"i". Upper case "i" is "I".
I don't think that there is a way around it except a big search and replace
to change all the I's into i's.
The other option involves rebuilding the master database with a
Latin1_General collation (while keeping your own database at Turkish), but
your customer(s) might not be very happy with that, and if you have string
comparisons with columns in temporary tables they will fail most likely.

No Differential Backup on Master DB
"Differential backups are not allowed for the master database since
they require that complete backups be applied without recovery as the
first step. When restoring the master database, restore without
recovery is not allowed."
Hi
If you look in BOL on how Master DB needs to be restored, you will notice
that it is not an easy procedure.
If Master DB gets bigger than a manageable size (say 100Mb), then you have a
serious problem. You have user objects in there and you are compromising
your recoverability of your server.
A small DB like Master needs no differential backups and not much changes in
it, and it is so quick to do a full backup, that it is not worth the effort.

As far as I know, through the Report Manager there is not. In order to
have this kind of flexibility, you would most likely need to create a
custom ASP.NET/Winforms application called via a scheduled task, etc.
Sorry that I could not be of greater assistance.

No "Existing" word... How?
I am rendering an Association Rules on Report Services. How do I make to filter the word "Existing", just like example below? I want to show attribute name only.
Pneu ML Road = Existing, Sport-100 = Existing -> Road Tubo de Pneu = Existing
to
Pneu ML Road, Sport-100 -> Road Tubo de Pneu
By the way I am using this code:
SELECT NODE_DESCRIPTION,ROUND(NODE_PROBABILITY,2)AS Probabilidade,ROUND(MSOLAP_NODE_SCORE,2)AS Importancia
from [Association].CONTENT
where NODE_TYPE=8
NODE_DESCRIPTION is a string field generated by the algorithm. It contains predicates having the form "Attribute = value" which, in the case of nested table keys, translate to "Road Tubo = Existing".
The "Existing" keyword cannot be removed from the NODE_DESCRIPTION. However, it is coming from the server's string resources. That means, if you install a localized version of the server, you will get a localized version of Existing. Furthermore, the server will attempt to "localize" the Existing string to the thread locales of the client application, as long as the respective resources are available on the server side.
Now, to get rid completely of the Existing keyword, there are a few ways:
- write a server side stored procedure which: traverses the rules in the model content, extracts the node unique names for the itemsets as well as the attribute states, then generates a string which contains the attribute name but not the value (pretty much what the stored procedures used by the built-in viewer do).
Then, invoke the stored procedure with a CALL statement.
OR:
- write a very simple C# class library, containing a single function, Replace, which takes 3 strings as arguments
string Replace(string source, string oldValue, string newValue)
{
return source.Replace(oldValue, newValue);
}
Then, deploy the assembly on the server and change your query like below:
SELECT MyAssembly.Replace(NODE_DESCRIPTION, '= Existing', ''),ROUND(NODE_PROBABILITY,2)AS Probabilidade,ROUND(MSOLAP_NODE_SCORE,2)AS Importancia
from [Association].CONTENT
where NODE_TYPE=8
While not as reliable as the first solution, this is much easier to implement and will generally work correctly, as long as the only attributes in your model are the nested table keys .
|||
You did inspired me, but I found a better solution:
Just click right button on the table, click in "Expression" and change the code Fields!Regra.Value to =Replace(Fields!Regra.Value," = Existing","")
Thank you very much!

Your immediate problem is caused by having violated one of the first rules
of database normalization, that is of putting more than one piece of
information into a single column. Each attribute, or aspect about a "thing"
should be in it's own column. You have Marital Status, and Subject mixed
together in one column. Then, you also have multiple individual data
elements of the SAME type in that single column. If you fix these issues yo

Well if it works, then the value in there must mean something... Your
first task, before anyone can help you, (including yourself) is t ofind out
what is in the database, (Tables and Columns) and understand what the query
is supposed to be doing, and what it is doing...
That includes knowing, and understanding, the data that is in the database.
Until you do, you really shouldn't even be messing with it. If you're the
DBA, your first task should be to hire someone who knows enough about
database technology to do that. I say that reluctantlly, but, based on your
comments in this thread, it seems that you have a great deal to learn about
SQL and RDBMS technology in general, before your skills will be at the level
necessary to do what needs doing on this system.

Kindly point-out the differences if possible.

I have never read these books but I would postulate that the major
differences in those two books are the difference in features between SQL
7.0 and SQL 2000.
If you have to administer both versions of SQL Server, I would advise
keeping a copy of both editions.
